Successful Ethereum Testnet Fork Achieved During Shanghai Upgrade Rehearsal
1 min read
The Sepolia testnet on the Ethereum blockchain has successfully undergone an upgrade known as the “Shapella” upgrade, emulating the upcoming Shanghai hard fork that will occur on the mainnet in March.
This upgrade includes changes that allow validators to withdraw their staked Ether (stETH) from the Beacon Chain back to the execution layer.

Some of the Prsym validators are offline due to the old geth version. They will come online in the next 10 mins!

This is a significant change as validators required to stake 32 Ether (ETH) to validate on the Ethereum blockchain.
The validators will now be able to withdraw rewards exceeding 32 ETH while continuing to validate, and those who wish to withdraw entirely can take 32 ETH plus rewards and stop validating.
Before the Shanghai fork is launched on the mainnet, it will be released on the Ethereum Goerli testnet, which is expected to begin in March.
