Solana’s Plan to Enhance Its Blockchain
2 min read
The recent Solana network update on February 25 led to a noticeable slowdown in block production, causing transaction disruptions. To address the issue, validators downgraded the software for improved performance.
However, Solana Labs’ founder and CEO, Anatoly Yakovenko, released a statement on February 28 outlining a six-step plan to improve the network’s stability during its transition.
2022 priorities were shipping new features and new tools. 2023 is stability. Tldr 1/3 of core eng is going to be focused on stability and adversarial testing. Here’s my thoughts. https://t.co/Z6pR9hhYbP

The plan includes the formation of an adversarial team comprising one-third of the Solana engineering team. The team will develop additional hooks and instrumentation into the validator code and target exploits in the underlying protocols.
The plan also involves creating network-wide stability, with efforts such as building a second validator client and implementing local fee markets.
Yakovenko clarified that on-chain voting was not the cause of the slowdown, and an investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause.
The community’s response was mixed, with some welcoming the improvement roadmap, while others remained skeptical of Solana’s integrity:
your testing process failed at each major releases.

do you have at least a real testing process ? not sure.
Simple question : Who is responsible for the global testing/release coordination until now ? you ? raj ? …it’s not serious
A highly-anticipated event is set to take place in the crypto world on March 2, 2023, as the Solana ecosystem call is scheduled to convene. This event is expected to cover a wide range of topics related to the current state of the Solana ecosystem, as well as other relevant issues within the industry.
Furthermore, the month of March is shaping up to be an exciting time for Solana as the Helium Network’s communications protocol is planning to migrate to the Solana blockchain on March 27.
